I don't even know where all the people came from. Maybe ER decides to be nice and release EVERYONE at the same time?

Yeah, there's a line of 500 people THE WHOLE ENTIRE DAY!

You know what I hate the most at work. It's when this one clerk keeps yelling "CONSULT!!!" every 5 sec. I know, there's a freakin' consultation, but there's only one technician working right now, and 500 prescriptions to fill.

And then, there's the FUCKING PHONE RINGING! I don't know why call center is open every day BUT Sunday in our district. It's open on Sunday in other districts, 'cause I get phone calls from them before.

How would you feel if you're busily filling the 500prescriptions sitting on the counter, and some jackass call to ask "How much is each one of my 10 medications?" I put her on hold....and kinda forgot about the call. (meanwhile, I get calls from doctor, fix problems for clerks, do consults, etc.)A nurse called while I was filling. Me, trying to multi-task, answered the call and drag the phone to the filling counter. I ended up pulling the cord and accidentally hang up on the nurse :(

So yeah, to all those people who would like to work at my pharmacy because omg, the pay is SO GOOD! I am not overreacting when I say that THEY USE YOU LIKE A SLAVE. When there's 500 prescriptions, they need all the 3 pharmacists to final check. So that leaves the intern to do EVERYTHING ELSE. Clerk is having a problem customer? They call you.

Thank God, no patient is bitching at me about how long they have to wait. 'cause I came this close to yelling at someone after 6hrs of straight working w/ no lunch and low blood sugar (talk about violating union terms).

Back in business :-)

Wow, I've been gone for a long time.

Anyway, a lot of stories have piled up during my absence, but I've already bitched at my friends about it so if I were to repeat them, there wouldn't be any punch to it.

So, here's a lame posts 'bout funny names.

Last name: Hooker
- I was going to yell out his name, but I only got the first name out.

Last name: Titsworth
- Same as above hahahahahaha.

I was playing Rohan (an MMORPG similar to WoW) the other day when I saw some guy w/ the name "Cialis" running by.

Be nice to your pharmacist

Be nice to your pharmacist.

So here's another one of my pet peeves during consultations along with the ppl talking on cell phones. (At least they know to hang up since I would just stand there and stare at them until they do). I hate those teenage girls who give me attitude during consultation. Oh my God, I'm going to be late for the mall trip with my bff. Maybe I won't just tell you that if you take any alcohol with the metronidazole you're taking, you'll be throwing up all day long. Don't tell me you'll read the fuckin' med guide yourself. If you can't spare 2 minutes to listen to me, I doubt you're gonna spare 10mintues reading all the fine prints.

What's even more annoying is when these stupid bitches give me attitude when I'm giving consult for their parents' drugs TO THEIR PARENTS. Excuse me. Am I even talking to you? No, I'm talking to your parents who actually want to know how to take their meds.

Kids nowadays should get sent to military school for a semester.

Another busy day at work

So today was sooooooooo busy at work. I almost had a breakdown from trying to answer phone calls, deal with discharge consults, deal with refills issues. I promised someone that I would call them back about their Atenolol prescription, but I lost his number o_O ((I'm so sorry Mr. Patient. I was totally trying to call you back!!!))

We need way more staff (esp. clerks, and techs, and pharmacists. Hell, just hire more people in all departments).

Also I had a bitch patient gave me attitude during consultations. Man, teenagers nowadays.

Lessons learned:
- Refill remainings: PRN = keep filling until 1 year after original date of prescription.
I had no idea you can have that. When the Target pharmacist told me refill remainings = PRN, I was like "huh? wtf is that?"
Pharmacist: do you know what PRN means?
Me: uh...as needed...
Pharmacist: ok...it means you fill until 1 year after original date of prescription
Me: ooooohhhhhh...hahahaha, sorry, I'm an intern...
Pharmacist: *suddenly becomes nicer once he realizes I'm an intern* hahaha, it's okay.

- Nor-QD + Ibuprofen +/- Vicodin/Percocet picked up by a guy = this guy's wife just had a baby. Ask him 'bout the baby and he would tell you how much the baby weighs and may possibly show you pictures from his cell phone.

- Need to practice my Spanish. It sucks when I have to wait for a tech to do Spanish translation 'cause I don't know how to say "Are you sure your daughter is not allergic to Amoxil 'cause it says here she got rashes."

Anyway, I start to be able to answer patient's questions now without having to run back and ask the pharmacist, which is kinda cool. Provided that most of the time the questions are about Vicodin and I dispense/consult them at least 50x a day.

Another day at work

zomg, today got really busy at work. This lasts until about 3PM. After I went to lunch at 3, it was all nice and slow. I even had time to RTS!!!

Good stuff:
- No one yelled at me either V^_^
- Got to see my favorite pharmacist who I haven't seen in months! (She actually helped me feel better 'bout my failing out of pharm school blues)
- Ppl were nice overall.

I also learned that Metformin can be used off-label for polycystic ovary syndrome too. That is so weird. I didn't know you can use it for something other than Diabetes.

Also learned that Diabetic kids can't simply take any cold medication due to the sugar and the pseudoephedrine which converts glycogen to glucose (and raise their blood sugar). Fun stuff.

Yesterday I went to APE in San Francisco. It was nice to see the Nemu-nemu ppl again and met this guy who's on Youtube (that was kinda cool). Helped the Nemu-nemu ppl sell their stuff 'cause my friend and I had nothing better to do. Hopefully, I see these ppl again at Fanime. APE is cool, it's just not really my genre. I don't really read comics. Like the manga style more. But since we walked 6 blocks in the rain from the BART station, I figured we might as well stay there for a little while.

Halloween was on Friday. I dressed up as Konata from Lucky Star. However, 99.9% of the ppl I met thought I was Sailor Mars :( grrrrrr. I was planning on going to Anime Club Halloween Party but since I didn't study at all on Friday and Saturday, I'm gonna need to catch up tonight.

Smoking Cessation

Today, I did consultations on asthma medications for 2 patients. When the game is going on, it's dead quiet. Then within the last 15min of the game (esp. runaway games), everyone decides to show up AT THE SAME TIME!!! Usually, we'd have 1-2 clerks going on. Meaning the pick up line would be FREAKIN' LONG. Since we'll be slow on the filling line, I would get sent to do team sale. This would be when the people bitch at me. Wah wah wah, you guys should hire more people blah blah blah. I've been waiting here forever blah blah blah.

I don't get it. You're willing to wait 80min to get on Space Mtn. Why can't you wait 30min to pick up your prescription? Especially when it's your blood pressure medication.

PEOPLE SHOULD STOP BITCHING AT THE PHARMACY!!! Probably not a smart idea since I have midterms in like 3 days.

Anyway, I need to make a list of the bad guys/enemies/whatever that I really hate in a game.

1.) The Flood (Halo)--> every time I play Halo and these guys show up, I always scream. I even have to stop playing and leave to do something else 'cause they were getting on my nerves.
2.) Headcrabs (HL2)--> as creepy as the Flood, but not as bad. At least I can hear them before they pop up. It's still a pain to kill 'cause they jump for your head and you can't really shoot them at that point.
3.) Alma and miscellaneous ghosts (FEAR)--> FEAR will forever be the creepiest game I ever played in my life. But now, these ghosts/spirits/whatever would love to pop out at you when you're so tuned in to the game 'cause you're trying to look out for human enemies
4.) The Apprentice (Soul Calibur 4)--> always take me at least 20min to kill, 'cause this guy is just freakin' good. Wonder what he's like in Force Unleashed
5.) Vampire chick (DMC3)--> imagine the frustrations when I got her down to one last attack and she uses her kiss of death on me.

Gaming Post During Lecture

So, I'm sitting at lecture right now 5 days before midterms. Anywho, no one is really paying attention with the review.

Last night I decided to hit up DMC4 again as my study break. Then I remember why I stopped playing the game for a while. Oh yeah, IT FUCKIN' SUCKS!!!

Sure, the graphics is sooooooooooooooo nice (esp. on my GeForce 8800Gt mua ha ha). The graphics is 500x better than DMC3 hnads down. However, the gameplay SUCKS LIKE HELL.

In DMC3, your first level starts off with you kicking ass out of all these demons. Now, in DMC4, your first level consists of "training shit." I specificallly turned off the training option to avoid this, but NO, the first level consists of "Hit Dante 5 times" and "Jump 5 times." wtf man. I wanna kick butt not jumping around making sure I shoot him exactly 8.8 times while doing a double flip.

Last night pissed me off even more. In most games (ok like 99.9% of all games), you beat the boss, you move on to the next level. That's just the point of having a boss--to prevent you from moving on to the next level. Now, after spending 5 tries attempting to beat this boss, I expected to just jump through the door, and level ends, giving me opportunity to save and I can go back to studying.

Is that the case? NOOOOO. I walk through the door, and there's what seems like 30min of gameplay left of the level w/ more enemies to fight. I got killed again at least 5 more times, and w/ DMC4's lack of friendly save points, I have to start over again to the point where I just finished of the boss. Who the fuck designs this fuckin' game?!?!?!?!?!?

One last word. Dante kicks ass. Nero = annoying whiny wannabe bitch.

I think I might just drop DMC4 and pick up COD4 again. NOT A GOOD IDEA. Almost cause an accident on my 30min drive to work :-P

Anywho, I swear the busy-ness of the pharmacy depends on the Sunday football schedule. I think our manager should schedule the clerks based on that hours.

Some amusing things that happened:
- Some old guy called and ask if we had any Penicillin VK in stock. Guess how long it took the technician who answered that call to do a stock check hahahahah. After we assured him that we had some Pen VK in stock, he proceeded to ask if we can go ahead and fill it for him. No, the doctor hasn't called it in, he's sitting at home with the prescription in his hand. Get your ass over to the pharmacy you lazy bum.

- Me, being on 3hours of sleep, almost put away an empty box of Nuva ring in the fridge. Pharmacist thought it was hilarious that I actually for fall it when he tells me to put the box back and I didn't check to see if there's any stuff in there.

- Got 2 cases of angry customers.
Customer 1: Parents "complain" at me about how his doctor had him wait 48hrs before switching meds for his son who's running 100+ fever. Mom thinks he has mono and thus the Augmentin she is picking up ain't gonna help.
My thoughts: thank you for not straight out just screaming at my face. however, I can't really do anything 'cause we're not the prescriber.

Customer 2: I'm fuckin' pissed 'cause I had to wait 2hrs to pick up my daughter's birth control pills. Us: well, you have a photocopy of an rx, so we're gonna need to get the doctor to call in a new prescription. And the ER is not being very cooperative.
[I happened to be walking in on this when I clocked back in from lunch]
My thoughts: Why are you making such a big deal over your daughter's BC pills? Is she having sex tonight or something? btw, ER writes rxs for birth control??

Midterms Panic!!!

>3 weeks before midterms
<img style="cursor:pointer; These questions kinda get me thinking. Since I didn't feel like studying yet, I'm gonna do this reflection stuff.

Why are you interested in health-system pharmacy?
- Well, after working at Kaiser, I don't know if I'm interested in hospital pharmacy anymore. I still hate the yelling ppl, but I don't really hate the consultations anymore. From doing these consultations, I realize that these ppl need me. Sure, in the hospital, you're doing "smarter stuff" checking the labs and charts and making sure the patients got right dose, etc, but I don't feel like I'm helping them directly. When I'm working outpatient, I get to help all these ppl know more about their drugs, and yeah, like they say. I'm the most accessible health-care professional to them. After helping a lady figure out her glucose meter and teaching someone how to use an inhaler for the first time, I just feel like I did something for them personally. I think the best feeling was when I told a patient about a DDI that he didn't know before, and he genuinely thanked me.

If you could be a character from a show, what would you be and why?
- Dude, I want to be Dr. Cox from Scrubs. Sure, he's a little harsh on the outside, but deep down he cares for the patients and the people that depend on him. He might yell at them and what not, but you see him fighting for them when hospital policy might get in the way of their receiving the best care.

If you could be a drug from you top 200 list, what would you be and w
- I want to be Vicodin so ppl want me hahahaha. j/k j/k. Seriously, I think I want to be penicillin. Sure, a lot of people are allergic to it, but penicillin was the first ever antibiotic. Many lives were saved since its discovery. People aren't dying from minor infections anymore because of it. I want to be able to make a difference in people's lives like it did.

Anxiety Attacks

These past few weeks have been stressful. I had a family emergency which require me skipping the first week of school. So now, I'm a week behind in lectures, so I spent this week desperately trying to catch up. The good news is, I only have one lecture to go before I'm caught up.

On top of that, being an officer for 2 organizations (I totally regret this now) means I'm doing double the work esp. since it's membership drive week. Now, I have to start catching up on the work I'm supposed to do for the AMCP since I've been putting off stuff to concentrate on CSHP.

The thing is, I don't feel much for AMCP anymore. After being in the organization, I realize that I don't like managed care AT ALL. It's all business and management and I totally hate it. However, I already sign on for the board, so I still feel this obligation. Even though the workload and stress probably requires that I drop one of the boards, I can't. I know a few AMCP ppl are already talking about how I spend way more time on CSHP than AMCP. Like how I make 2 awesome slide shows for CSHP and not AMCP. Well, I would have done a recruiting slide show for AMCP too if they asked. They never did. Oh well, they're pretty much pushing out of the loop anyway.

Lately, I've been having tachycardia (for lack of better terms). I am just chillin' and listenin' to lectures but for some reason, my hear is beating freakin' fast. I can feel it beating hard against my chest. Maybe I'm having anxiety attacks?

Damn, I need Xanax.

Yay!!! I won't do any more Konata though. Might do Risa Hawkeye for Halloween. Would need to work on Lucifel or Raphael from Angel Sanctuary and/or Kilik or Seong Mi-Na from Soul Calibur. I found out that Cipro has a black box warning for joint pain. Crap, I consulted 500+ rxs of Cipro and I haven't told the patients that... Damn damn damn. I hope I didn't kill anyone :-P And I learned that Darvocet-N shouldn't be given to patients over the age of 65. Have to call doctors back and tell them to get them switched to Tylenol #3 or Vicodin.

Someone called asking why he has to pay $80 for his injectables when he supposedly has full prescription coverage from MediCal and Medicare. He said we're supposed to send in a TAR so that he can get it for free. I've never heard of the drug so I looked up the directions for it for clues. Turns out, the directions was "Inject into base of penis 1 hour prior to sexual activity." Yeah, I wonder why MediCal and Medicare aren't covering the drug. It's not like your freakin' Atenolol or Lisnopril. Freakin' a.

btw, I WANNA KNOW MY IPS3 GRADES!!! I'll buy food for my whole pharmacy if I pass. Just wants her Trazodone and Anafranil, according to the labels the printed out. I got her Trazodone counted and labeled, but the Anafranil was out of stock. So I went out to her and told her that her Anafranil was out of stock, and we're going to have to special order it and it would take 5 days.

Lady: I called it in and they said it was ready for me to pick up.
Me: Okay, *runs to special order ppl. They said they haven't ordered any Anafranil nor did any came in.*
Lady: Well, I go into withdrawal if I don't get this. btw, I also want my Seroquel, Xanax, Trazodone, and Anafranil
Me: Your doctor discontinued the Xanax.
Lady: NO SHE DIDN'T!!! I SAW HER INPUT IT! I NEED MY XANAX!!!
Me thinking: hell yeah you need your Xanax

*Runs around the pharmacy, talk to the pharmacist, got the Seroquel and Xanax situation sorted out*
*Calls all the pharmacies in our chain in the area. No one has Anafranil.*
Me tells pharmacist: Lady says she needs her Anafranil. We don't have it in stock. I called everywhere, no one has it. She says she'll go into withdrawal. What do I do?
Pharmacist: Let me go talk to her to see how many Anafranil she has left.
*Pharmacist talks to patient*

Apparently, patient got pissed and yell at pharmacist for not having her Seroquel and Xanax ready. She told pharmacist that she has enough Anafranil to last her a week.

Me: Ok, Anafranil problem solved. *Fills Seroquel and Xanax like crazy and got it checked and sent off*
Lady: I want my Anafranil. I don't mind driving around, but I need my Anafranil. I don't care, call all the pharmacies in the area.
Me thinking: wtf lady, you said you have enough to last a week.
By this time, the pharmacy got SUPER BUSY

*Tries to call the pharmacy in our chain in the next town while also handling consults that's piling up. Damn. I'm a slave bitch for my work. Monday was supposed to be my day off, but my lovely boss decided to call me in to work. Me, being stupid, decided to go in to work. Darn. Speaking of which, didn't see Starbucks boy working there anymore :( So there goes my motivations to work.

And these past few days, I've been doing consults pretty much at least 6hours/day. Man, I need to study up on the drugs over break now. I feel bad when I have to keep running back to ask pharmacist for stuff when patient asks me something I don't know.

Wow, I guess this is where I start studying for my patients. Damn, can't believe I'll be doing this.

Bought 2 games. I won't install them until I know I passed IPS3.

Oh, some guy came in for Levitra refills. I can't wait to see this.

More consulting

hahaha, good thing I start this blog. I have a lot of good stories hahaha. Anyway, I went in to work today out of the goodness of my heart. If I flunk my finals, I'm totally blaming my manager.

So, I'm doing consultation for Macrobid and Fluconazole for this one lady for her UTI and possible yeast infection. After I did the necessary consultation stuff she leans in and whispers,

Lady: So, can I give my husband some tonight? I'm going on a trip for a week and I don't want him to get "lonely"
Me: uh...no
Me thinking: Man, can't you just give a blowjob or something?
Obviously, I can't say that hahahahhaha.

Did a consult on how to use inhaler. I'm finally done w/ my 40hours of free labor at Rite Aid!!! Yeah, I love the pharmacy. The techs are nice and the pharmacist has taught me so much. I've learned so much from working there. They even offer me a job. I would have taken it if I wasn't already working for Kaiser (btw, Rite Aid has the lowest pay).

Anyhow, on to the rants. I got cussed at today by some lady who wants her Vicodin refilled. According to her, it's bullshit (her word) that we don't have her Vicodin ready for her since she called it in 2 days ago. Ok, I checked the doctor's faxed response. Oh look, doctor denied it. Well, that's bullshit too (again, her word). Well, lady. First off, it's not like we called the doctor and made sure that he denied you're freakin' Vicodin. Perhaps he realizes that you're an addict (which obviously, you are) and is trying to get you off it. btw, I normally don't have issues w/ ppl cussing at me 'cause I do it all the time too (ask my friends). But at least I have the decency to not cuss at strangers, esp. those who are doing stuff for you. Man, ppl nowadays.

Yeah, I know I rant a lot here, but that's 'cause no one EVER reads this stuff. Now, the next rant concerns my extracurricular activity. So, I'm the webmaster for both organizations. Well, for one of the organizations (which I will not name), I realize that my job is becoming obsolete. I mean, first off, NO ONE goes on it. Why? 'cause they started a little Facebook group for it. So yeah, the Facebook group has upcoming events and pictures of past events. So, why should anyone bother to go to the website now? Exactly! Does anyone even know how much work I put into coding that shit? No, obviously not. So yeah, I don't even feel like updating the website anymore. Why bother? No one's gonna look at it anyway. The president doesn't even look at it (evident in how she asks me to upload pics which I've uploaded 2 WEEKS AGO!!!)

I mean, I just love doing all this shit and no one even cares. Everyone else is going to get credit for it. Maybe I should put something totally inappropriate on the website and see how long it takes them to notice. (probably no one since according to many members of said organization, NO ONE GOES ON THE WEBSITE!)

Maybe I'll make it look totally awesome, and I'll see how long it takes for anyone to notice. If nobody notice, then I'll seriously take down the link and resign. It's a bitch move, but hey, they don't need me anymore, right?

Fuck, I need Prozac.

Evil pharmacist T_T

This is probably the shittiest week ever. So yeah, on Tuesday and Wednesday I got really suicidal. And that depression pretty much carries on for the rest of the week. My 40-hour free labor makes me a little happier though.

Then comes Friday, my paid work. It was freakin' busy. All the techs are gone for training so there were only 2 techs+ me filling as opposed to 5+ techs. Again, they tried to have me consult. Again, I declined. Apparently, they really want me to do consults 'cause the manager called me over to watch her consults. The funny story of the day is when some guy came in for 100 Levitra. I was like, uh...typing mistake? Pharmacist was like "oh, maybe the guy has some pulmonary problem and has to take this long term. You see, this drug was originally used for that blah blah blah. That's when the clerk leans in and tells us that the guy said he's using it for sex. Me, the pharmacist, and the clerk were like laughing our asses off.

So at night, when it's slow, I started do a few consults. That's not too bad. I was feeling pretty confident now. Then, the freakin' relief pharmacist starts to ask me all these questions. I'm like, ok, that's fine. I'm used to pharmacist asking me stuff. But then he starts grilling me w/ questions which I just went "I don't know." And he kept telling me how I'm missing the big picture. Well, that went on for a while. And long story short, he made me cry. This week was bad enough w/ me feeling like a failure, and he has to make me feel like I'm never be good enough to be a pharmacist. I cried all the way back from work. And then I cried for another hour in Corinna's room while I vent (was trying to get some booze so that I'd pass out). I hope I never see that douchebag again.

Ironically, on Sunday, I ended up doing consults all morning. It got busy, so Sam had me help her w/ consults. I just went and ask her stuff if I'm not sure. Like if it sounded like a serious drug. So I got pretty comfortable w/ consults now...I think. btw. I made a girl cry today.

So I was giving consults on eyedrops for mom w/ twins.
Me: Ok, so which one is Grace?
Mom: This is Grace, right here.
Grace (3-yr-old): WWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
Mom: It's ok, honey. She's not a doctor.
Grace: WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

Yeah, white coat = doctor.

T_T

No ranting about work for once. Don't worry, I'll rant about school instead.

Yes, I f-ing hate pharm school. Ever since I started pharm school last August, it has given me nothing but pain and suffering. It gave me the first C ever in my life. For the first time, I realize that I don't know jacksh-t and I can't do anything about it 'cause I just don't have time to sit around and study my brain out. I have extracurricular activities and work to worry about. Oh, drop extracurricular activities? Well, then I won't be competitive when applying for a job or residency.

And why is everyone in pharm school so f-ing cutthroat? Man, aren't we all going to get a job in the pharmacy world? Why must everyone try to get straight A's and be [insert organizations] president and work 40 hours a week and be Rho Chi. Oh trust me, there are people like that. People that get 4.0 and hold high positions. Do they not have a life? Oh wait, pharm school does NOT expect you to have a life. It wants you to breathe, eat, sleep, poop, f-ck pharmacy.

Well, you know what? I don't even want to go to f-ing pharmacy school in the first place. I want to be an engineer. But my good ol' parents said I'll never get a job 'cause I'm not a white male. (Yay for supportive parents)

Again, I hate cut-throat overachievers. Yeah, go ahead and publish 5 billion papers and be president of your 500 organizations and get straight A's and be in Rho Chi. Well, I'm f-ing NOT LIKE YOU! I can't go out and smooth talk my way and make 5 billion job connections. The most connection I'm going to get is my manager and PICs and pharmacist slavemasters realizing I'm such a good little worker/slave.

I am this close to just going screw it and kill myself. You know how many times I've had suicidal thoughts this year? Oh yeah, and my cutting returns too. My left arms is covered w/ box cutter marks, and it's moving down closer and closer to the veins in my wrist. I've never had that many suicidal thoughts this often. Maybe I'll do my roomates a favor and give them all straight A's since that's what they all f-ing need to step over everybody.

I'm falling behind in this competition. When I graduate, I won't have a job or any prestige. I'll just be a disgrace to my family.

Fun at work (for once)

So I went to work again on yesterday. I totally got pwned by midterms, so let's not talk 'bout that...

Anyhow, work was freakin' awesome yesterday. Well, first off, there was like NO ONE there. So I get to chill with the techs. (Plus, the night crew apparently took care of the RTS already ^_^) Yeah, they were the "cool ppl" so I was happy. We were fooling around so much haha.

The pharmacist made me do consults again :-( but it was for Augmentin and he was busy so I didn't care. He didn't even come over to make sure I did it right. Which was a little nervewrecking. It's like uh...I don't wanna tell the wrong thing!!! Good thing I still remember stuff from the day Koob and that one other pharmacist (totally forgot his name) made me do consults. That aside, I had to do 4 freakin' compounding! The first one was like ok, no biggie. I've never done this one before but whatever I'll just follow instructions. Then 3 more come in. I was like "wtf!" Now it's getting annoying 'cause I have to hunt down the ingredients (btw, we ran out of lidocaine and benadryl). It's like dude, can't you use freakin' regular mouthwash? Listerine, Walgreens down the street, aisle 5. You won't have to wait hours as I grind the powder shit and have the pharmacist come and check and sign off and what not. Ah well. I would like compounding more if I don't have to keep hunting for the ingredients.

On a more reflective note, working makes me realize that I should study more for the patients (maybe not so much for the old lady screaming for her Norco but for the little girl with ear infection who needs Augmentin). Yeah, I was all in this for the money. Which is probably why my motivations to study is kinda low right now. But at work I realize how much I need to study 'cause these ppl are depending on me to get the right meds and get well. Yeah, I should freakin' study more.

On a funner side note, I freakin' found awesome anime music last night V^_^V w00t!!! btw, my pharmacist plays WoW and he was freakin' checking on his guilds/clans/whatever at work. That was funny hahahahaha.

w00t! Yay for katana action!!!

Okay, I better get back to studying for my Systems midterms. 1 down. 3 to go. The MDA midterms felt like a C :-( I hope I don't get a 68 again.

-edit-
Start playing the game as Vergil. zomg, he r0xx0r!!!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://pharmgamerkid.blogspot.com/2008/06/fifth-post.html' title='w00t! Normally, it's soooo slow. We'd just stand around and chill. But today, I was pretty much doing something for the whole 7 hours that I was there. Once again, the pharmacist makes me answer all the phonecalls.

For some reason, everyone realizes that they need to call in their refills. Oh wait, I just realize that it's the 28th and ppl are probably low on their drugs haha. But like dude, I filled so many prescriptions for painkiller today. I got so many vicodin and norco, esp. from dentists. What, is everyone getting their teeth done this week? Ah well, at least I know the strengths for vicodin, norco, and tylenol #3 now. (Vicodin = 5/500, Norco = 10/325, Tylenol #3 = 3/300)

Since we're doing a lot of narcs today, there were a lot of bitching. Seriously, just because you're bitching 'bout it doesn't mean that we'll give you your meds, you freakin' addicts. You're just showing us how addicted you are.

And yeah, one lady called in freakin' 9 rxs for her husband and his dog. How cute. A puppy got a prescription hahaha. Its kinda funny. She was like "ok, I need refills fro George. And then I need prescription for Polo" Me (totally not paying attention): what's Polo's last name? Lady: uh...he's a dog... Me: oh ok hahaha [lady, how the hell would I find the dog's freakin' profile]. Ah well, turns out the dog takes the last name of the owner. Still, it's cute. He's getting refills for Lactulose. I guess, he's having poopy problems? hahaha. I told my roommate 'bout this and she said that she had to fill rx for mood-stabilizer for a dog. wtf, the dog is schizo? hahahahaha.

Ok, I should go study for my quiz :-P urgh. Seriously, I enjoy working more than studying.

Oh, when I came in to work, some lady asks me what to take for allergy (she was on the phone w/ someone). I told her to get Loratadine. The person she's getting the drug for has "air allergy" and not like rashy allergy. :-P

One more interesting story. A guy got a sample for a med and he wants us to call doctor for prescription since the med works for him. Guess what the med was for? Cialis. tee hee hee. The med works for him ;-)

Fanime ^_^ and bitch tech

Yeah, this weekend was kinda hectic. Saturday was fun though, 'cause I got to finally go to FanimeCon :-) It was totally awesome. I went as Konata (from Lucky Star), and I got a few ppl stopping me to take pics. Note to self: don't go as someone from Bleach or Naruto or whateve series is really popular in U.S. There'll be a bunch of them hanging around.

The highlights of the con would probably be me scoring a free Lucky Star poster from Bandai. It was awesome. I was just looking at DVDs at the Bandai booth (they have Lucky Star playing on TV too, I might add), and the guy was like "hey, want a Lucky Star poster? here you go." me: V^_^V
Score! Another highlight would probably be meeting Scott, the guy who behind VG Cats! I got him to sign my Leo plushie and even got a pic hahaha.

Well, the fun ends there. Sunday comes, and I have to work. :-P It was a pretty slow day, so I was doing RTS (yet again). Spent maybe a good 1-2 hours putting away drugs. Toward the end of my shift at 6:30PM, everyone started leaving. We're down to one pharmacist, and one tech. The tech decides to take her lunch right then and there. And I was like "uh...I'm leaving in like 5 min." Tech: Yeah, I'm taking lunch. There's like 5 billion prescriptions left to be labeled, and I still have to pour out 560mL of this suspension crap from multiples 120mL bottles. Oh wait, phone starts ringing, and I have to deal with refills. Oh great, I'm also stuck with the a-hole pharmacist who hates interns for some reason.

Yeah, I was supposed to leave at 6:30PM, but I couldn't go until 7PM. Man, I hate those ppl who take their breaks seriously. What happens to "working for the good of the company" or whatever. Ok, fine, you can say that's 'cause I've never worked before. Well, I've worked at a job where I don't even have time to take breaks. Have you tried waitressing? Ok, so you eat lunch during the slow hours. But that slow hour can become not so slow in a second. And sometimes, you leave your lunch sitting there and you wouldn't get to to it for like a few hours. Man, would it hurt that tech to freakin' label the stuff before she goes to lunch? Dude, it would take her less than 5 sec. anyway since they're "so pro" at it. Yeah, I kno I'm a slow labeler, but freakin' program needs to make the labels more user-friendly. At other places I've worked at, the extra labels that you stick on the bottles are right on the edge, so you can grab off the whole strip and stick them on in seconds. But here, the labels are like right in the middle of the freakin' page. Anyhow, my point was "can't you wait an extra 5 min to take your lunch?" or better, "why didn't you fuckin' take your lunch earlier when there was another tech working!" What was she doing earlier? Nothing. Just sitting there reading some magazines. Well, why didn't you take your lunch then? Fuckin' A. Man, I miss the weekday crew. Sure, it's freakin' busy, but ppl are too busy to be such a bitch.

40 hours of free labor

Wow, I haven't posted in ages. Anyway, a lot have happened since then. I passed by 2nd semester (yay!) Now, I'm barely passing 3rd semester :-(

Oh, also, along w/ 3rd semester comes something called "Early Experiential Rotation." It's pretty much 40 hours of free labor at a random community pharmacy. I guess it's kinda nice for ppl who've never worked in the pharmacy before. Well, for those of us, who is currently working, it kinda sucks. I'm already pulling 16 hours a week at my other paying job. Somehow, I have to fit 40 hours into my schedule? Oh btw, I need to do 20 hours before midterms. (Which is in...3 weeks). Yeah, so it was freakin' hectic last week as I was trying to figure out my schedule. Also, the 2 organizations that I'm a part of are both demanding my attention. Man, I might have to quit one of them. I don't want to though, 'cause it seems like I'm betraying the one that I'm quitting.

Anyhow, despite my ranting, I actually learn stuff from the 40 hours of free labor. Now I know how to take phoned-in prescriptions, process phoned-in refills, and do transfer (that, I learn from my paying job, but I think my preceptor would have made me do it anyway). Yeah, the other day, the preceptor told the techs and clerks that I'd be answering all the phone calls. No one is to answer the phone but me. So, I got stuck w/ telling ppl of the hours, whether their prescription is ready, and the actual pharmacy stuff that I was supposed to kno hahah. That's cool though. At least I got over the fear of answering the phone. Dude, I actually answered the phone at my job today. That was really surprising :-O

Oh yeah, I've been playing this game called F.E.A.R. It's freakin' scary as heck. I screamed so many times during the game. Too bad I won't be playing much of it for a while :-(

btw, I think I'm gonna make a pharmacy-related game. I know, it's nerdy as hell, but dude, I love gaming. And hey, why not make it pharmacy-related. That way, I can use pharmacy in what I really like hahahaha.

Hmm...maybe I'll start out by making a sig game for all the poor pre-pharms. Man, I can't believe all those sig abbreviations are like 2nd language to me now. When I was a freshman, I didn't think I would have remembered them all.

Aww, no sex pills for the trip

Yeah, I should probably be studying for finals right now. Seeing that it's like only 3 days away!!! Ah well. This shouldn't take too long to write hehehe.

So today one of our professors was telling us to think about our end product as a pharmacist. Supposedly, that would help us not view the finals as this horrible thing, 'cause the stuff we're learning would lead us to the end product (i.e. being pharmacist).

Well, sorry to disappoint you, professor. But being pharmacist is not my end product. Pharmacy would be my side job. My main job would be...PROFESSIONAL GAMER!!!! mua ha ha!!!

I went to work today. Should probably be studying for finals instead. Oh well. But then, I would miss this awesome story :-)

So this one guy came in for refills. Apparently he's leaving for a trip tonight and need his meds, which turn out to be ibuprofen, Viagra, and Levitra. My first thought was "damn, you need 2 drugs for your 'condition'?" Unfortunately for him, the prescriptions for both Viagra and Levitra are 2 years old and we can't give him his refills (his ibuprofen is ok though). Poor guy.
